2013 National Book Festival

poster_enlargeI had such a fun weekend, my boyfriend and I went down to Baltimore and DC stopping by the aquarium for a few hours on Saturday and on Sunday hitting up the International Spy Museum and the National Book Festival.  It was one of those weekends that just works out perfectly and I had such a great time!

My goal for the Book Festival (since I was with friends who weren’t necessarily as excited as I was to listen to authors speak about their most recent work) was to listen to Suzy Lee’s presentation and get a copy of her book, Wave signed for a good friend’s daughter.  I didn’t connect the two that Suzy Lee was also the illustrator of this year’s Book Festival poster… so I was a little nervous thinking that her autograph line would be really long (and it was).  But, I got there pretty early and got her to sign Wave as well as a copy of the Festival poster.  Her 30 minute speech was very interesting and if you’ve never seen her work, it’s really inventive and beautiful.  Overall, there were some amazing authors, illustrators, and book lovers in DC this weekend and if you ever get the chance to go…. it’s totally worth it!

Take a look at the Library of Congress’s website for more information about this past  year’s festival!
