Storytime Theme: Elections
With tomorrow being the elections, I thought it might be prudent to share some great read aloud picture books about voting, elections, and democracy. While these topics are quite involved, you’d be surprised by how authors can create such engaging titles for even the youngest readers. Like all things, beginning to expose kids to these concepts early, helps them to understand them even better as they grow up from year to year.
Select a few read alouds, some fun voting songs, and offer an option for kids to vote on, so they can be a part of the process. Whether you let the kids choose the best popular character to be president or choose between two different items (cats vs. dogs), kids will be so excited to cast their very own ballot!
Don’t forget to grab some “I Voted” stickers to share at the end of storytime and you’re all ready to go for elections!
