Nonfiction Storytime Theme: Baby Animals

I’m going to toss out another nonfiction storytime lesson plan. Check out Wild Animals and Birds if you’re interested in selecting more nonfiction books for storytime. I like highlighting nonfiction when it’s available for storytime because it can open up an entirely new area of the library for some parents and it allows librarians and teachers a chance to model how to use nonfiction for kids! (Maybe we don’t read every page or maybe we pick and choose what to read on each page.)

As you can see, so far I’ve only ventured into the animal themes for nonfiction lesson plans. These are easy to do because there are so many nonfiction books about animals – you’ll find plenty for a younger audience. But, I’m excited to see what other nonfiction themes might work – maybe outer space or the human body? Stay tuned to find out!
