Storytime Theme: Underwater

It’s time to take a deep dive below the surface in this fun storytime all about being underwater! It’s not specifically an ocean theme or a swimming theme, rather just a fun water themed storytime that’s perfect for the heat of the summer! I loved pulling together a wider array of books from submarines to fish, bubbles to nonfiction resources. I really enjoy a storytime theme that allows kids to explore in both story and fact and I think these are great books for a preschool-age program.

And while you may not be looking for a storytime lesson plan per say, you can easily take aspects of this lesson plan and use it for read alouds with your family this summer, or do one of the crafts when it’s raining or too hot to play outdoors. While I create these lesson plans with a public library storytime in mind, I think they’re accessible enough for preschool teachers, families, and caregivers to use as a great jumping off point for some fun activities at home surrounding specific themes.
