Storytime Theme: Holi
This is the most colorful holiday that I know of and it’s such a great holiday to celebrate at storytime because of all the colors! Come celebrate Holi, a Hindu Festival of Colors, Love, and Spring. Many people celebrate by spreading powdered color on each other and there is music all around! Learn about Holi with the picture books below – both nonfiction and fiction titles for little ones. Plus, you can enjoy music and crafts to create a celebratory atmosphere at storytime.
While this program could be a really fun program where kids could get really messy with splatter art, I tried to tone it down a bit to make it work better for a large crowd of little ones. Holi is another holiday whose date varies depending on the calendar, so make sure to check before hosting a Holi storytime! In 2026, Holi will be celebrated on March 4th!
