Storytime Theme: Eid

You can’t very well have an Eid storytime without a Ramadan storytime! But, you’re in luck, because you’ll find both lesson plans on Literacious! Celebrate Eid at storytime with these wonderful picture books, a few songs, and some crafts too! I’ve provided both stories as well as few non-fiction books to learn about the holiday to accommodate your community’s needs. I like the idea of starting off with a nonfiction title to help kids understand the meaning of the holiday and allowing that to lead into stories, I think it provides a really nice base for families who may be unfamiliar with the holiday.

If anyone who has done a storytime or knows of any really great Eid songs for kids, I’d love to know! I found a few online, but I’m always a fan of suggestions, especially when it comes to creating a program that is respectful and appropriate. And I will say as a note, if you are unfamiliar with Ramadan and Eid, this holiday actually moves around the year because it’s based on a lunar calendar, so make sure to take a look, well in advance, so you know when it’s coming up! For example, in 2026 Eid falls on March 19th!
