Storytime Theme: Yes and No
Pulling this storytime lesson plan together was actually a little more difficult than I first thought! Yes and no picture books are not as prolific as I originally thought. Granted, there are a lot of picture books out there about consent featuring the word “no” but that’s not where I wanted to go with this lesson plan. Instead, I wanted it to be a little more fun and interactive for the kids, think The Book with No Pictures and Yo? Yes! Once I found a variety of picture books, I wanted to also include some songs, (which weren’t too hard to find), and a few simple art projects and activities.
For the extension activities, it wasn’t easy to find anything that was about “yes and no” without being a speech activity or a worksheet. So, instead, I decided to work with providing a few simple activites that don’t require many items and are fairly easy to clean up. Doing an extension activity after storytime varies from library to library and factors often include space and time. But, if you’re able to offer a little low-key activity for families to extend storytime and spend time together, it might be worth it!
