Storytime Theme: Noodles
I love noodles of all shapes and sizes in dishes from around the world! And while noodles may not be a prolific as rice in the number of cuisines, you’ll find noodle dishes in many countries. Whether it’s slurping spaghetti in Italy, chowing down on pierogis in Poland, or scooping ramen in Japan, I’m going to eat it all! This storytime celebrates noodles of all different kinds from around the world with classic stories like Strega Nona to new award winning books like Noodles on a Bicycle about the Japanese deliverymen who balanced noodles on their shoulder as they rode through the busy streets of Tokyo.
And of course, you can’t miss making pasta necklaces, playing with dry (or cooked) pasta in a sensory bin and even using pool noodles to create some fun process art. The only thing, I’ll caveat here is to double check that your little readers are not gluten-free and if they are to make sure you provide them with some alternative gluten-free noodles to play with!
